G’day, I’m Andrew McDonagh.

I am the Managing Agent at mcdonagh | migrations and my job is to support you in creating a new life in Australia.

I spent most of my career in senior project management and consulting roles before launching mcdonagh | migrations. And I know how it feels to be in your shoes. One wet, cold and dreary day in London I was working a job I didn’t like and saw an advert online for a job in Australia. I looked out the window at the weather and couldn’t resist the temptation! A few months later my wife, two teenage children and I were in Sydney - that was 2016 and we haven’t looked back since, all now holding Australian Passports.

It wasn’t all straightforward - temporary visas that didn’t become permanent, sponsorship refusals and AAT delays all played a part in our story. But on the 11th March 2020 I was granted Permanent Residency through the Global Talent Initiative.

So I understand your position - I have been there. And mcdonagh | migrations has been established to provide the level of service and support I felt I needed on my own journey, at an accessible price point. I am proud of what we have built here and I hope we can help you achieve your migration outcomes too.

The Structure

mcdonagh | migrations is the parent company that deals with general migration. We also have a set of sub-divisions that focus on specialist areas with more targetted knowledge and skill sets.

mcdonagh | migrations

mcdonagh | migrations is a full service Australian based Migration Agency. Typical client requests include applications for Family and Partner visas, Skilled Independent (including Regional) and Sponsored visas.

Unfortunately, not all applications have positive outcomes. We also manage the appeals process, to the AAT, in particular for individuals who originally applied without an Agent.

And of course we offer Consultations at all points in the process, learning about you and your circumstances so that we can provide specialist written advice on your best course of action.

Irish | To OZ

Australia and Ireland have a very long association, stretching all the way back to the First Fleet. Today roughly 30% of Australians can claim at least partial Irish ancestry and there are strong and vibrant Irish communities all over Australia - in fact the Sydney St. Patrick’s Day Parade is one of the largest in the Southern Hemisphere.

irish | to oz specialises in continuing that association by supporting Irish migration into Australia. With a deep understanding of the Irish education system, skills and trades qualifications we can help navigate the complexities of skilled migration with you. We can of course also help with Partner and Family visas, though telling your Mammy that you are moving to the other side of the world is on you…!

healthcare | To Oz

Australia has a world leading Healthcare system, supported by all levels of the Government. Health spending is currently around 10% of GDP and is provided by Medicare, the Australian equivalent of the NHS. In addition many Australians have private health insurance and access to world class private health facilities. Healthcare workers - of all types - in Australia tend to earn more and work fewer hours than in countries like the UK. Couple this with all of the other advantages of living in Australia and this contributes to a substantial quality of life difference for Aussie healthcare workers over their compatriots overseas.

At healthcare | to oz we specialise in skilled migration (sponsored, independent or Regional) visas for the various medical and healthcare roles on the skills lists.

Pride | to oz

Australia has a thriving LGBTQIA+ scene. It can boast of globally leading rights (equality in law, powerful anti-discrimination legislation and full marriage rights for example) supported by a liberal and progressive society. The Sydney Mardi Gras dates back to 1978 and is one of the largest events of it’s kind in the world.

Despite this progressive attitude members of the LGBTQIA+ community continue to face barriers in securing equality in migration outcomes. Challenges can be as simple as ‘proving’ same sex relationships or as complex as satisfying identity requirements following gender transition.

At pride | to oz we work closely with members of the community to identify their target migration outcomes across Partner, Family or Protection classes and then support the application process through to conclusion.
